2013 Movie List
70-61
70. Enders Game
Ender's game was good to look at. Lots of pretty visuals, and a game that looks like Star Trek Quidditch. but besides that the whole movie felt like ti was leading up to a huge badass climatic battle. but all we got was a kid playing a game. watching a kid playing a simulation is not good moviewatching. it felt like I was waiting for the actual action to start. then when it's revealed that it was actually the action I felt like I was ripped off. and Ender was just a characterless bore.
69. Delivery Man
When a Director decides to remake his own movie it's usually a bad sign. I've heard the original Delivery Man, Starbuck, was hilarious, But copying the movie almost line for line and rereleasing it is lazy. Vince vaughn plays Vince Vaughn, nothing surprising there. overall the whole movie felt like a lazy cash grab and nothing more.
68. The Host
Ok, I'll admit it. I read all of Twilight. I also read the other, black child, book by Stephanie Meyer. The Host. I liked the book. I liked the way the internal debates were set up between Melanie and Wanderer. But the movie was painful. It has one of my favorite actresses, Saoirse Ronan, as the lead, and she's good. It's just that the movie feels empty and vacant of any kind of conflict. Wanderer and Melanie got along just fine, but having voiceover and nothing happening on screen was unappealing and bland. I feel bad for Ronan and hope this doesn't hurt her Career
67. Red 2
I completely forgot this movie came out. That's how unmemorable it was. It's a fine movie but it was fine. nothing amazing, nothing horrible. the story was run of the mill. the action was the same as always. It didnt have the fun that the first had. overall it was just an unneeded sequel I wish they spent the money on something else.
66. Internship
Well, It's Wedding crashers at Google. That's all. the movie was alright, I had fun watching it, but let's face it, it's not a very original Google ad. Did Google pay for the Google interns to go to the Strip club? anyway, it's basically a giant Google ad. anyone else want to play nerd Quidditch at google with the other Google Interns?
65. Olympus Has Fallen
White House Down sucked. Olympus has fallen was better, a bit. It's an action film, nothing you havent seen before, nothing you wont see again. Gerard Butler is better than Channing Tatum. Aaron Eckhart was better than Jamie Foxx. the overall story is almost the exact same. I recommend this more than White House down, but it's still just another action movie.
64. The Family
I liked The Family mostly. It wasnt a stand out movie in any way. Diana Agron is just Quinn with a gun. De Niro is De Niro, nothing new. the rest of the family is forgettable. That's how a lot of these movies are today, just forgettable. they're not stand out awesome movies yet. Those come soon. The family was a decent little film, but nothing I'll bother seeing again.
63. Cockneys vs Zombies
So I went into this TCFF Midnight show with some high hopes. it had a good trailer. Yet it was just an average zombie comedy. nowhere near as good as Shaun of the dead or Zombieland. but it was a fun flick. the Zombie baby punt was one of my favorite scenes all year, but a single gag can't save it from mediocrity.
62. Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
So Percy Jackson 2 was shrugworthy. The Host was shrugworthy, and Mortal Instruments is...Shrugworthy. It wasn't a great movie. I've read (Most of) the book and It's good. I dont like being Force fed books to read. But the movie was just ok. I enjoyed some of it, like the Rune system and the Arcane ideas. but it just felt like yet another Twilight clone. though Jace is exactly like I pictured him. Overall I enjoyed it but It stole from too many other movies and TV shows for me to really love it.
61. English Teacher
This was one of the first movies I saw this year at the TCFF. It was pretty good. Julianne Moore as a mousy quiet english teacher. It was fun, lighthearted. and I enjoyed it. nothing really negative about this one. it just ended up not being one of my favorites of the year.
