2013 Movie List 40-31

Welcome Back everyone!

Day 7 Here, with a bunch of blockbusters! It's Christmas eve and I'm up in Alpena. Time to hang out with family! Today's list is pretty good, a bunch of blockbusters, some good TCFF films, and a zombie romance.

Enjoy!

2013 Movie List
40-31

40. A Hijacking
Yet another Traverse City movie! This time it's a Danish film about Somali pirates. Get used to me mentioning Somali pirates, they may come up again in another movie today. Anyway this film was good, not fun at all, but very well made. The tension was well played out, not immediate tension but that kind of overlooming presence. It bothered me that basically noting happened throughout the movie but it's made up for by focusing on the CEO dealing with the hijackers. It also gets quite a bonus because we sponsored it.

39. Trust Me
No, this isn't the movie about Catfish rape. this is an indie comedy written and directed by Clark Gregg. Ya know, that guy from Avengers, Coulson? Yeah, Him. He plays a Talent agent who specializes in Children. The movie does a good job of keeping itself light while having some very serious scenes like the actress girl faking a rape and other stuff like that. It was very well made and kept me entertained all the way through.

38. Thor: The Dark World
At first viewing I really didn't like Thor 2. But after seeing it a couple more times I've warmed up to it. Besides some very questionable storylines. For example, why out of the millions of people on the earth, the only one that was being watched by Heimdall happens to randomly wander Into where the Aether is? It's crazy random Happenstances like that that make me wonder if the writers even read what they wrote. Otherwise the movie was really fun, Thor's a fun character and he's a badass when he fights. I'll be honest, Loki totally Stole the show. I might cosplay him soon.

37. Fast and Furious 6
The Fast and the Furious series has gotten progressively better, and part 6 is no different. While I still think Fast Five is the best Six isn't bad. Cool car chases, fun fights, and Vin Diesel one liners. It's a fun flick that never really slows down. The only problem I really have is with the 15 minute long scene on a Runway going 150+ miles per hour. do the math on that, that Runway is about 40 miles long. or even longer. I never gave the Fast and furious credit for an overabundance of brains.

36. Last Vegas
Hangover with old folks! That's basically how I describe Last Vegas, It's a fun movie, not all that original but the cast made it great. Michael douglas, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, and Kevin Kline shined. They made me believe they were old friends, something that's tough for any movie to do.

35. Upside Down
Just in concept alone Upside down is Brilliant. Visually it was one of the most beautiful movies of the year and I absolutely loved the way the two separate worlds were designed and shot. but after some scrutiny the story and the physics start to fall apart. And yet that's not enough for me to say I didn't like it.

34. Iron Man 3
Tony stark is cooler than Bruce Wayne. Iron Man is cooler than Batman. With that out of the way, I'll admit I really enjoyed Iron Man 3, It's humor and action were awesome. The final battle with all of the Suits was great. and potentially setting up a really cool Way of establishing Ultron. But of course I was very disappointed with the Mandarin twist. I was looking forward to some Magic!

33. Captain Phillips
So this one's about a boat being taken over by Somali Pirates. Sound familiar? Yeah, it's basically the same movie as A Hijacking, except this time with Tom Hanks giving a potentially Oscar worthy performance. I really liked him and the actor who played the leader of the Pirates.

32. Man of Steel
I went into Man of Steel expecting it to suck. I really don't like the Superman we've come to know, invulnerable and unwilling to kill. crippled by a green alien rock that just happens to always be nearby. Well, Man of Steel finally changed my mind. Clark Kent is finally a complex character. and He'll kill if he must! I think i'm too happy about that, but I love the fact that he's actually able to kill. I'm also looking forward to Man of Steel 2, shooting in Detroit soon.

31. Warm Bodies
I know, I know, the Twilight with Zombies is really damn high on the list. But I liked it. It's a weird mix of romance, comedy and horror. I liked the balance, it reminded me more of Zombieland than of Twilight. Can't really say much else about the movie except that I liked it.

So that's Day 7! Days 8 9 and 10 will come out over the next few days. It's possible I might miss tomorrow, considering the Jesus has it's birthday.

Anyway, See you next time!
