Hello again!
welcome back, not a whole lot ha happened since last time I posted, Had an improv show last night, went pretty well. I'll post links to the shows videos when they go up.
anyway, I just walked out of Thor 2, I'll try to keep the spoilers to a minimum, but I will have a separate category called Spoilers, I have some issues with some of the later parts of the movie.
anyway, Review!
Pros:
First off, the Visuals are amazing,t he world of Asgard is beautiful, as it was in Thor 1. The Dark elfs were really cool, and Malekith was badass. I was watching the cool visuals for most of the movie. the Various ships were cool and at times it felt like I was watching the best parts of the Star Wars prequels.
I loved the Costumes, and the designs of Asgard and the Dark World. I wish the film took more time with them, but that would have slowed it down.
as far as the cast goes, Chris Hemsworth is still a perfect Thor. although he doesn't have a whole lot to do other than hit things, get hit by things, and fly. Thor is mostly just a good looking guy with bricks for brains. not a bad thing, just, he's not a genius.
Kat Dennings was a highlight of the movie. she always seem to have a good one liner. and 'hey gimme your shoe made' made me laugh. as well as her 'mew mew!' as Mjolnir flew by.
Tom Hiddleston is still the best character out of this franchise. He's the character i most associate with. whether that's good or bad, i'll let you decide. (I'd consider cosplaying him if he wasn't so popular.) I'll get into him more later in the review
I also really liked that Heimdall, Idris Elba, got to do a bit more, even though I still felt like he was underused.
Cons:
The story was flimsy as hell. Malekith needed the 'worlds' to align so he can cover them all in darkness using a weapon that he lost 5,000 years ago? then after 5,000 years he's awakened just a few days before the alignment happens? well that's convenient to the story. and it all just happens to be caused by a woman wandering through a ghetto? even more convenient! I guess what I'm saying is come up with a more believable way to get the Aether into the story than having the one woman Thor cares about stumbling upon it completely randomly in an abandoned building.
That's my biggest gripe about the movie, it hinged it's whole plot on Jane stumbling on this one point. what if any other character found it? Malekith would have got it, done everything, and destroyed everything. It's just too lucky to have the one character that has story weight finding it.
other than that the Kurse character was a bit of a let down, he was hyped as being a badass character, but ultimately just ended up as a brute in a rubber suit. I wanted some pulsing Aether in him or some kind of fire breathing. (oops wrong movie) but all we got was a bit man in a costume.
So anyway, I enjoyed the film, but it have quite a few too many convenient plot points for me.
FINAL VERDICT: 71
Good, but ultimately lacking in story
So yeah, I'm really looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy now

MOVIE REVIEW: Thor: The Dark World

- SPOILER SECTION -
Ye have been warned
I Hate the character twists with Loki. I like that he got freed, and I loved that he instantly turned on Thor, and severed his hand. I loved when he ascended and threw Jane to Malekith.
But then it was all a ruse, COME ON! this made me mad. not to mention the plan kind of sucked. Thor wants to save Jane, but then hands her over to the Crazy Dark elf? yeah that'll end well.
then they 'kill' Loki. bet that'll last long. kinda like Coulsen dying.
how is Loki Odin?
and finally Why do the other 'worlds' look like floating Pogs?
And the Collector? Yay!
- SPOILERS OVER -
So anyway, I enjoyed the film, but it have quite a few too many convenient plot points for me.
FINAL VERDICT: 71
