2013 Movie List
30-21

30. Before Snowfall
Tcff usually has a few black horse contenders each year. the movies I'm not all that interested in seeing at first but then pull me in fro the start. Before Snowfall is one of these. I wasn't expecting to like it but after about 30 minutes I was hooked. the way the story was laid out was very well done. It's a bit slow and a bit long but it's full of twists and turns I didn't see coming. It also gets some bonus points for being sponsored by my aunt and uncle. Plus, the ending caught me completely by surprise.

29. Star Trek Into Darkness
J.J. Abrams is one of my favorite directors, and I loved the first star trek. The Sequel was great. Perfect, almost. It would be top 10 material if not for one single fact, KHAN! I hate the fact that Benedict cumberbatch ended up just being Khan, again. Are there no other characters they can come up with? I hate that they feel the need to incessantly rehash the same characters over and over. Other than that the movie is awesome!

28. History of Future Folk
Romance, Sci-fi, Comedy, Musical, Thriller, other stuff. History of Future Folk was an odd amalgamation of random genres and styles. the quirky humor and strange characters were fun. As another TCFF movie i went into it tired, especially since it was a Midnight show. But I was awake all the way through. I should buy it on DVD.

27. Side Effects
Soderbergh is one of the most underrated directors around. he cranks out movie after movie. Side Effects was really good. It came and went without any real fanfare but it had some pretty good performances and was solidly directed, good writing, all around it was just a really well assembled movie.

26. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?
What do I say about this one. It was a dark horse at the TCFF this year. had no idea what to expect out of it. but very quickly into it I realized it was awesome. It's about a bunch of different couples, all with their own oddities and quirks. It was a lot of fun, a good blend of seriousness and comedy. It was great.

25. World War Z
A Pg-13 Zombie movie? Based on a book? Not a romance? anyway, World War Z sounded like a trainwreck when I went into it. I had heard the stories of the problems on set and the massive reshoots and how much they're deviating from the book. Those are usually Red flags, yet the actual movie turned out awesome. The Zombies were great, the piling and towers and almost Liquid like look of the hordes was great. makes the Walking dead Zombies look like complete pansies. This is a zombie apocalypse I'd hate to be in, but love to watch.

24. The Impossible
Another 2012/2013 Border straddle. This film was very very hard to watch. It was absolutely Amazing. the Visuals and the destruction was great. to me I love that it was a very small personal movie with such a huge scale. Naomi Watts was great.

23. Detention of the Dead
Hey! A movie I worked on! where do I start with Detention? It's not a great movie, but it's fun. I loved seeing all those thousands of lockers. All hand painted. that Barricade, the Rat, the Crotch grabbing arm. the Battle Tank. It brought back a lot of good memories and Reminded me about the Busy as hell beginning of 2011. Go buy the Dvd!

22. The Wolverine
I wasn't expecting to like Wolverine. after all I didn't like Origins Wolverine (too many useless mutants) nor First class (too many useless Mutants) but Wolverine really impressed me. there's only 2 mutants. (and a slightly precognitive girl) it felt very grounded all the time. well, almost all the time. There's this thing at the end with a giant adamantium Samurai, I guess that completely screwed the ending. other than that Hugh Jackman's never been better, and the girl who played Yukio was great, I'd love to see her in Days of Futures Past

21. Evil Dead
The Highest straight Horror movie on the list. It was one I was trying to avoid, but after I saw It I couldn't sleep for a few days. The image of a Deadite standing over me watching me freaked me out. I saw it a couple times in theatres and was actually really impressed with it the second time around. I still love Cabin in the woods the best out of the Cabin in the Woods genre. but Evil Dead was awesome, in a 'I'm not gonna sleep' kind of way

So that's Day 8, Let me know what you think. Are you agreeing with my list? or am I radically off base?
