Mission Impossible Rogue Nation
Tom Cruise is a perfect ethan hunt. I can't quite see any one else playing the role. (i'll revisit this idea later) he is surprisingly nimble for a guy getting up there in years and the way he's able to command the screen is still indicative of his massive screen presence.
The best casting they've done though is Simon Pegg. Pegg immediately brings a huge level of awesome to the series. Benji is my favorite character in this and the fact that he's becoming the best buddy to Ethan hunt is pretty fun. Kinda hoping he doesnt die in the next one.
Jeremy Renner is Jeremy renner, nothing new there.
The story was pretty clear, to take down the Syndicate, a Spectre wannabe, they have to get a ledger with info about the leader. (Heroes' Man with Glasses 2.0) then take it down. it's a pretty simple story with some twists here and there.
I liked the creative Instrument based weapons at the opera, and that action scene was great.
Overall I just really liked the film. It's not on the level of the 24 movies from the film festival, in terms of writing, But it's still a very well made film.
Final Verdict: 86
So I mentioned I'd come back to a little note, this isnt really part of the review so i figured I'd put it down here.
I think Tom Cruise should step down as Ethan Hunt.
Not right away mind you, he has at least one more in him. but how about for Mission Impossible 6 getting a new actor and have him pay Ethan Hunt. not some new character like they tried to do in Bourne Legacy. Make it actually Ethan Hunt.
Mission Impossible is the closest thing America has to James Bond. James bond has had 6 different actors play him. why not recast Ethan Hunt and just go on making good movies? The IMF is very similar to a scrappy version of MI6 and ethan hunt is kind o like the immature younger brother to James Bond. Let's not let this series die with Tom Cruise.
