Movie Review 142: Jupiter Ascending

Hello everyone!

So i'm currently watching Brick Mansions with a friend as I write this review of the movie I saw last night. (Confusing I know. but I had no internet last night.)

anyway I'm going to try and not be too brutal in this review. but I'll be spoiling it a bit. so beware

Movie Review: Jupiter Ascending

Pros:
I can't praise anything about this movie before praising the (mostly) gorgeous special effects. The ships and the various technology in the movie were fascinating. I loved so many of the little gadgets and Concepts in this. The various meshes of humanoid and technological was really cool. I loved the Various androids and the cybernetic enhancements. all around I loved the cyberpunk feel for some of the Hunters and people.

The overall concept of Farmers harvesting planets was really cool, but you had to sit through a lot of exposition to fully get what was going on.

Cons:
The acting was bland across the board. I liked the look of Channing Tatum and there were interesting looking people but so many were just bland or boring. Mila Kunis was basically just there to ask questions. So many of the character had weird awkwardly placed prosthetics and Lights. they made no sense.

The Lizard creatures looked absolutely horrible. in the beginning they looked like a bad Playstation game. it's odd that these look so bad when everything else looks so pretty. It was like they made the ships and everything then ran out of money for the Talking Lizards.

Overall I found the movie completely directionless. it meandered and ultimately was a spectacle of visuals and no story. I'm a bit depressed that the creators of The Matrix have fallen so far. Oh well.

Final Verdict: 40
Good visuals (mostly), good concept designs. Horrible story and bland acting.

Now to do that 100 Movie list Ive teased before
