Hey Everyone!
Yes, I've been a horrible blogger, I know. This week has been a blur of Coffee and sleep. bit of an odd combination but still. I've been working hard all week. (can I get my paycheck finally?)
Anyway I've had a few movies on the backburner to see before they disappear. One was Automata, It disappeared from theatre's yesterday, Crap. I'll see Gone Girl eventually. So That leaves Fury and The Judge. I figure Fury will do pretty well so it'll stick around. The Judge it is.
This will have a couple of little spoilers but nothing that will change your reaction to the movie.
Pros:
I can't praise Robert Duvall and Robert Downey Jr. enough in this movie. The two of them were on top of their games this time around. Duvall was great as the Judge. I usually hate the kind of bullheaded characters but he was very convincing throughout. he's a powerhouse and could get a supporting character Oscar if this is remembered.
Downey Jr. was Fantastic. He played his same 'manic talking' character he usually does but he seemed like a really intelligent guy and I'd love when he'd get going on a topic and bore into the person. I love Downey as an actor but he always just seems like the same character.
The next thing I really have to praise is the amazing Cinematography. the shots all felt creative and planned out. something little movies like this always seem to overlook in an effort to just tell a story. The lighting and camera moves were great. even though some times the shots brought attention to the fact that they're pretty shots and momentarily took me out of the movie.
Cons:
Overall I saw everything coming. There were tons of twists and turns but I most of them were predictable. This seems like a pretty run of the mill movie with fantastic acting, some above par Directing and beautiful imagery.
The three brothers felt a bit oddly cast. I liked them individually but they never quite felt like a family.
Other than that there's not much that's really negative. It's a middling movie with great acting and Visuals.
Final Verdict: 76
Now to get some sleep before my early shift tomorrow.
