AHH I'm Back at 120!
I know, I know, I retroverted, Hey, I have to keep myself honest. I saw the Drop Last night with a friend and forgot to review it. Might as well do it now.
Without further delay, Review!
Movie Review: The Drop
Pros:
Tom Hardy is proving he's quite the thespian. with movies like this and Locke, he's proving he is a powerhouse actor and can somehow control a movie even with the smallest of acting decisions. He is in peak form in this and he steals almost ever scenes he's in. Hats off to him for being the best part in a rather mediocre film.
Otherwise I liked some of the tension the movie built. it had a nice tone and it flowed decently well.
Cons:
yep, its one of those kinds of reviews. Hardy was excellent but everyone else was lacking. some of the scenes felt jilted and forced and the more dramatic scenes almost felt lackluster. It felt like it was trying to hard to be special but just ended up being shrugworthy.
Yet again Noomi Rapace was misused. You have a brilliant actress and you give her a throwaway role like this? More so what was the point of the dog storyline? I know it played into the end but, still, the whole thing felt like an unneeded excuse for Hardy to meet Rapace and ultimately Shoot the original owner.
The whole movie Felt like it was trying to clone Drive or Killing them Softly. Both of which I didn't really like. it just felt hollow and bland when it was over. I had called most of the twists well in advance and I was never really surprised by anything.
Final Notes:
Tom Hardy proves he's a brilliant actor, otherwise this is a skip.
Final Verdict: 36
Now to watch supernatural and eat cheese doodles!

Thankfully, somebody out there was wise enough to make Gandolfini's last release The Drop. Can you imagine if the last movie we saw featuring him was Enough Said – a romantic comedy?
