The ALS Ice Bucket Challege

Hello everyone

No review this time just an old school blog post. I've yet to be tagged to do the ice bucket challenge but my friend was just tagged and I'm rather sure i'm in her list, so, crap.

I usually have tons of issues and greivances about little 'viral' fad's that come out but this one is pretty damn annoying to me. I understand how it started, a few celebrities doing this and donating but now it's become a 'haha i'm dumping icewater! so many dont even mention ALS or if they do get it wrong (looking at you THOR)

anyway I understand the idea behind it. but I feel many dont. If you dump the water you still have to donate 10$. you don't get a full respite just because you made a fool out of yourself and tagged some friends. I can ask 90% of the people i've seen doing these challenges if they know what ALS is and they'll say no. this is making me aware of the name, not the disease. It's also rasing a whole hell of a lot of money for a charity noone really knows and a lot of the time they dont even bother to mention any money aspect.

Basically I'm sayng this fad needs to die. You get some views, you think youre part of a group but ultimately you are doing nothing for the greater good.

This brings me to what I'll be doing. I'm not strapped with cash, nor do I really want to bother with an icewater bath. which leaves me at a quandry. do I pass and pay the 100$ I dont have, or do I do the stupid challenge and pay the money I dont have. I'd rather just openly admit to not doing it. otherwise I'd be taking the challenge as a respite for not paying.

anyway, if you're reading this, I'd much rather not have to pour water on myself, please dont make me.....I'm lazy, and I have things i'd much rather use my own money on.

after all that I'll give you some info about ALS. the one thing this whole challenge frenzy has done is get me to research ALS.

More popularly called Lou Gherig's Disease, ALS is Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, It's a disease that attacks your motor functions and the nerves that control your muscles.

ALS is a horrifying disease that can lead to living in a state similar to 'locked in syndrome' I can't remember the real term for it but Watch the Diving Bell and the Butterfly. it's terrifying and will show you exactly the kind of direction ALS can go.

I admit I dont know a lot about the disease, but if this challenge is bringing money for the cause, awesome. I admit I can't donate but I would if I could.
