Welcome Back!
It feels like there have been some long gaps in my updates recently, for this i'm sorry, I really do mean to review more but it's been a busy weekend, with Murders and mystery!
I should post about the whole murder mystery show soon, perhaps tomorrow if im feeling better.
anyway onto the review of the weird little Tom Hardy film Locke.
Review:
Tom Hardy Single handedly carries this movie from start to finish. good thing to because for an hour and a half you're going to see him in a car, driving, and talking on speakerphone. That is literally the whole movie. It starts as him just driving. then over the course of the film you get sucked into his chaotic world that he's lost in. It's a true test of an actor to be able to carry a whole film by himself with just a speaker and a car to work with.
It's also odd that he never starts moving around the car. usually he'd start exploring the car and changing scenery but the director makes a conscious effort to keep Locke (Hardy) in the drivers seat the whole time. it's fascinating that something so mundane can be so engrossing.

Movie Review: Locke

I enjoyed the way the movie played out. The way the various storylines unfurled were very well orchestrated. You just got more and more frustrated as he kept driving. especially the Wife storyline or the Drunk coworker storyline, Played by Moriaty I believe, I recognize that voice anywhere.
But that's also one of the biggest issues. I never quite got why he was driving. I know he was going to see the woman giving birth but you really don't understand fully why he's throwing his life away for her. He didn't seem unhappy in his life yet he still insisted on running away.
I felt really bad for the wife. I mean I understood his actions probably as much as she did.

In the end I enjoyed it and Hardy was phenomenal but the character motivations were a bit lost in the need for him to be in a car for the movie.
FINAL VERDICT: 75
Great acting and decent concept but muddled motivations.
Now to sleep!
