HOLLYWOOD MOVIE!
Holy crap, after 24 independent and foreign movies I finally got to see Guardians of the Galaxy. Whew, I loved this movie. But just like all of the marvel movies it has a few issues.
Time to Spoil it for those of you who havent seen it. But i'm not gonna stop there, I'm gonna spoil all of the marvel movies. (Gwen stacey dies...wait, that's not marvel...oops)

Review:
I love Space based Scifi's like this. The worlds were really cool, the awesome creature design and really fun characters all played well on screen. This movie was brilliant from a production design standpoint. So much creativity went into this, from Rocket's design to the various aliens.
The main characters were a lot of fun. Quill was a fun Tongue in cheek type hero. you knew he was a good guy but he always had that badside to him. Reminds me of another captain in a space movie....that one wore a brown coat. Gamorah was fun for most of the movie but she lost her edge during the second half where she basically just became the boring green female character. Drax was fun, and I liked the humor of him taking everything literally. Some of his choices were frustrating but the film made up for it.
Groot and Rocket stole the show. rocket was phenomenal all the way through, he thoroughly outshined the rest of the cast. I loved that he never broke character and his constant animalistic reactions were fun (like Drax petting him.) I loved his small lines about his weaponry and his conversations with Groot. Speaking of Groot he was awesome! I loved the various abilities he had, the scene with him whipping a whole bunch of people was fun, especially when he gave the little smile. Vin Diesel sure had a hard job to do huh?
The rest of the cast was questionable. Yondu was fine, but ultimately he just ended up as alien dixon with a telekinetic arrow. The nova Corps barely had any real lines. I swear they had more lines n the trailers than in the movie. The collector was god, but never got to do much.
And yet again, much like Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and basically anyone not named Loki or Bucky, The villain was lame. Ronan looked cool and seemed menacing, but ultimately he did next to nothing. he showed up and fought once then disappeared then reappeared, fought, and died. just like Thor 2. I love marvel films but they need to work on their villains. (thinking about it Nuada is no different in Hellboy 2)
Nebula was horribly acted, cool looking and interesting abilities but bad acting.
Moving on. The dialogue was a lot of fun. The story was decent, a bit cliche at times but still fun.
I also am not really sure they they bothered with the Howard the Duck cameo..why? what's the point?
FINAL VERDICT: 90
Lots and lots of fun, weak villain
So now to get some sleep! it'll be nice to sleep in my own bed
