Hey Everyone.
I'm currently sitting in a Biggby Coffee. It's becoming a bit of a second home, that's scary!
Anyway I just finished up my Character development homework and other Things for my Murder Mystery show in August. So I'm now sitting here, having probably an hour to kill, so might as well do some TCFF work.
I say work, but it's really just a list of all the movies I'm seeing and my expectations!
Then i may transition over to my Top 100 Movie List from the TCFF. I really liked doing my top 100 movies of 2013, so I figure I'd do the same thing for movies I saw at the TCFF.
Anyway, below is my List of movies, with times and locations. If anyone reading this is at the same show feel free to say hi. I'm not an evil person, I think

- TCFF 2014 MOVIE LIST -
Tuesday (July 29th)
The Bachelor Weekend
9 PM, Boat
I'm not fully sure what to expect from this. I Love Andrew Scott in Sherlock, but I haven't really seen him in anything otherwise. This looks like the hangover in Ireland. I love Irish movies, so we'll see how this one is. Could be a fun movie to start out the festival with. Also not sure what to expect with the Boat screening. Might be cold as hell out on the bay, but it'll be fun.
Wednesday (July 30th)
Still Life
9 AM, Bijou
Another British Comedy, well, dramedy. This one was an impulse pick. I love Eddie Marsan so I instinctively picked it because of him. The story about the 'next of kin' searching is pretty unique and could be a very heartfelt movie as long as it doesn't end up being him hiding that the father died.
Land Ho!
Noon, Lars Hockstad
One of the two movies set in Iceland this year. It looks like a fun romp with a couple of older guys. I like these kinds of movies and ass long as it stays intriguing all the way through I'll be wide awake and attentive.
5 to 7
3 PM, State theatre
I love Anton Yelchin. He's a brilliant young actor. and at the moment I don't fully remember what this is about but I know I want to see it simply because he's in it!
I Won't Come Back
6 PM, Bijou
My Aunt and Uncle are sponsoring this one, so i figured It must be interesting. The concept of the two girls traversing the Russian countryside is interesting to me. I'm expecting a movie similar to Before Snowfall from the last festival.
Black Coal, Thin Ice
9 PM, Milliken
I really wish I could find an actual trailer from this one. The 'arm in the coal machine' is creepy and intriguing but It didn't give any hint at what the rest of the movie was like. but I saw Chinese and noir and was all in.
Summer of Blood
Midnight, Old Town Playhouse
Even thought he trailer was a bit iffy, It was between this and the Babadook. And I for one would be terrified of the Babadook, so Summer of Blood it is. not to mention the idea of a blind dating vampire is a cool concept.
Thursday (July 31st)
Fading Gigolo
Noon, Lars Hockstead
I love Woody Allen (even with all the apparent Pedophile stuff) so I instantly added this. seeing it's directed by John Turturro piqued my interest. so I figured, why not? It's not the only Woody Allen movie I'm seeing this week, but I between the two it'll be the lower one.
The Hunt
3 PM, Bijou
Oscar Nominated and starring Mads Mikkelsen? I'm in! I love Mikkelsen and have been looking forward to this for months. I know a movie about pedophilia is an odd movie to be excited for but I love movies that tackle difficult subjects like this.
Blue Ruin
6 PM, Bijou
This one and Cold in July were closely tied. Bother are about men who are in a horrible situation and look like very tense thrillers. but Blue Ruin just barely edged it out.Honestly more due to boredom and the fact that I can just stick around Bijou after the Hunt. 2 Heavy movies in a row, whew, who chose this schedule?
Keeper of Lost Causes
9PM, State Theatre
Another heavy movie, this time in the same vein as Secret in their eyes or Girl who played with Fire, or Tell no One. I love these darker more serious movies and judging by the trailer this one could be another great addition to the Festival's History.
Creep
Midnight, State Theatre
This one is a fascinating story to me. I can't find much about the movie, but I from what I do know about it, I'm pumped. Mark Duplass is one hell of an under appreciated actor. This movie is basically just him and a friend (in real life) hanging out at a house over a weekend. it sounds like a good Bottle comedy but at the same time it could very well be a disturbing violent twist as well. I'm really curious how this one will turn out.
Friday (August 1st)
German Doctor
Noon, Lars Hockstad
German Doctor is a bit of a whim choice. I enjoy Dark Dramas like this so When i saw this it was almost an instant pick, but there were other conflicts, like Keeper of Lost Causes and Lunchbox. But after I got Lunchbox this became a pick!
A Five Star Life
3PM, Milliken
Out Sponsored movie! This one was actually not my first pick as a sponsored movie. I've warmed up a bit since then, the Trailer got me. I like the idea of someone who reviews big hotels. Hopefully the storyline is intriguing and as well written as it seems.
Calvary
6PM, State Theatre
I love Brendan Gleeson, He's one of the best actors out there. So when I saw the trailer for this I was so excited for it. Then I saw it as a TCFF movie and it was an instant pick. Gleeson as a threatened priest is a really interesting casting and story.
Life of Crime
9PM, State Theatre
Elmore Leonard has some really good stories, and this one could easily be an intriguing film. I'm not a huge Jennifer anniston fan anymore but I love Mos Def (or whatever weird name he's going be now) and I like these kind of movies so it should be a good trip as long as I can stay awake this far into the festival.
Der Samurai
Midnight, Old Town Playhouse
Wow, I'm really not sure what I'm getting myself into with this one. This one has Weird written all over it. It honestly sounds like the weirdest mix of random swordsmen, supernatural stuff, Snow, Blood, and various other weirdness added in. I'm really thinking this will end up like Bellflower from a few years ago or end up like Chaser from year 5 or so. Either horrible or amazing
Saturday (August 2nd)
Coherence
3PM, Old Town Playhouse
I love odd little sci-fi movies, and I love Bottle Dramas. Legacy and Face To Face both are in my tops from previous years so a movie set in basically one place during a potentially post apocalyptic blackout is quite cool. I can't get much info about the movie but I'm really looking forward to this.
Love is Strange
6PM, City Opera House
Molina and Lithgow are brilliant actors, what more do I need to say about this one. It's two stellar actors in a really unique story. Well as unique as two old gay lovers finally getting married but their lives falling apart because of it.
Playing Dead
9PM, Lars Hockstad
What can I say? This premise is cool to me. An actor who can't get a normal job takes a murder reenactment job and ends up trying to solve the murder himself. as an actor this is really interesting to me. I love the concept and I'm really looking forward to it.
Zombeavers
Midnight, State Theatre
Zombie.....Beavers
Sunday (August 3rd)
The Volcano
Noon, State Theatre
This one just seems like a fun little Rom Com. It's a bit different because of the road trip style but it's a unique and interesting setting. I'm just really happy it's called The Volcano and not whatever the original name is. (Eyjafjallajökull) good luck pronouncing that...
Chinese Puzzle
3PM, City Opera House
I love Romain Duris, he's consistently made fun movies like Heartbreaker and this one seems like it could be in the same vein. It's different to see someone moving here instead of moving out of here so I expect this to be full of heart and good writing.
Magic in the Moonlight
6PM, State Theatre
I don't care what people say about him, but I love Woody Allen movies. This one could be total crap but I love the director, love Emma Stone and overall I really love the concept. This one could very well be a brilliant movie, if I'm not dead by then
The One I Love
9PM, City Opera House
FINAL MOVIE! Whew, by this time I'll be dead to the world. so hopefully this one blows me out of the water. I really like Mark Duplass, so hopefully this one keeps my interest. The trailer revealed that I really have no idea what the movie's actually about so who knows, maybe it's going to be a lot better than I think!
