Movie Review: Summer of Blood

Good evening.

Imagine me saying that all menacing and stuff.

Ok I'm not scary at all. And neither is this film so I guess I don't really need to be. Anyway I just got home from Summer of Blood. Absolutely packed theatre (or just a small band of people, like 20 max, this saddens me.)

Anyway I'm gonna get through this quick so I can get to the whole sleep thing.

Movie Review: Summer of Blood

Pros:
Summer of Blood is a fun little movie. Shot over nine days and for 30,000 dollars it's a fun little vampire flick. Violent and sexual, with the right blend of humor to make it a good midnight movie.

I enjoyed all of the vampire lore shoutouts and how the movie never devolved into him being hunted.

The movie kept my attention somehow. I've say through 6 movies today and somehow this little horror comedy kept me wide awake throughout the whole thing.

Cons:
Woah, cons already? Yeah I know, a bit fast but as I said, I'm tired. Calm down, it's not like the movie was bad, I did really enjoy it but I have to be honest.

At times it felt like the main actor ( who's also the writer and the director) was a bit full of himself. I mean to stage scenes with him and three gorgeous girls in a foursome? I mean, you go man, but yeah it felt a bit like he was able to live out a personal fantasy as compared to being story driven.

Also I never felt any love for the girlfriend, I never got why he'd want her.

Final Notes:
This movie is a lot of fun. It's not for everyone but that's ok. If you like midnight movies, you'll have a good time. And stay for the Q&A after, I was embarrassed how little stayed at our show

FINAL VERDICT: 70

Now to get some much needed shuteye before I do it all again tomorrow.

If you see me, say hi. I'm wearing a sponsor badge with Devon Westerholm on it!
