Movie Review: Still Life

Hello!

First review time! It's been a long year since the last festival, full of shrugworthy movies and iffy stories. Finally the festival is back, and I can get back to reviewing the brilliant stories and amazing acting. First up is the Eddie marsan Drama, Still Life.

Usually I'd avoid spoilers but this I need to mention some of the last few scenes, so beware spoilers!

Next Up: Land Ho!
Then: 5 To 7

Movie Review: Still Life

Pros:
Eddie Marsan is a brilliant actor, he doesn't get enough recognition but he is a great subtle actor. He carries this movie completely and never resorts to any loud comedy, nor does he ever get boring. I loved his subtleness and underplayed performance.

This is the first time I've ever seen a movie like this. The quirky concept was original and interesting. I've never thought about the idea of finding the next of kin, so this one was intriguing all the way through. I love how the movie slowly plays out. It's not for everyone but I love the slow pace.

I loved the final shot, the people he previously saw over all returning at his grave was great. It was really subtle and the order that they appear was well choreographed to help you realize who they are. A brilliant end to the movie.

Cons:
The pacing was very slow, it could very well be too slow for most people, so if you don't like slow movies you won't like this.

Final Notes:
This movie was a great way to start the festival. This fest is going to be awesome

FINAL VERDICT: 87

Now I'm sitting in Lars Hockstad waiting for Land Ho! to start! See you again in 2 hours
