Movie Review: Calvary

Pros:
I love Brendan Gleeson. He is an extraordinary actor. He single handedly carries this movie with ease. The way he can show so much emotion and turmoil with so little movement and expression is astounding. This is one of the best movies he's ever made. And here I thought In Bruges was his best.

The rest of the cast did a very good job with their roles. His daughter was perfectly cast and little finger was great...as littlefinger. I enjoyed the weird quirky ensemble.

I'm also surprised with how the movie ended. It's almost atheistic. All these people yet he never made any of them happy. Not many movies can dance that fine line.

Cons:
The ensemble almost felt like a bunch of random caricatures instead of real characters. Like the gay guy or the inmate. I enjoyed them but they just felt fake.

I'm also curious why the dogs death was never resolved.

FINAL VERDICT: 89

Now to see Jennifer Anniston and (not) mos def!
