That reminds me, I need coffee, lots of coffee.

Ok, so It goes without saying but This review will be filled with SPOILERS. not just for season 4, but also season 3, and 2, and 1, Basically If you don't want to know about the show, Please don't read until after.

TV Season Review:
Game Of Thrones
Season 4

I'm going to forgo the normal Pro and Con type review here. Instead I'm going to do an individual storyline breakdown. I'll openly admit that I will miss some storylines, I mean, let's face it there are so many storylines. (thats a plus)

The Dragon Queen
Might as well start with the only storyline not taking place in Westeros. Which is the biggest downfall of this storyline. I said this last season about her, but this whole storyline is unneeded. I mean, this has absolutely no effect on the rest of the storylines. I liked her in the first season, but this season was literally her sitting there listening to her peoples problems.

The finale Finally gave her some good development. Her having to lock up 2 of her dragons was a good character moment, but I honestly don't see any real change. from the begining of Season 3 she's basically just been walking from place to place barking orders, and this season she's been sitting on a throne as another person says a heartwrenching story and she responds. that's all.

the most she's done this season is throw out Jorah and lock up the dragons. Can we throw away her storyline next season unless she effects the real plot? If she dicks around in the desert, then is killed and has no effect i'll be pissed off.

Sansa and the Finger
This one's a bit tough to describe. It's Sansa and Littlefinger's story after she leaves Joffrey's wedding. I'm making Joffrey's wedding it's own category.

anyway I wasn't a huge fan of Sansa in previous season, and this season she's still pretty bland. no real Character, and basically just watching what others are doing. I love littlefinger though, he was great.

Once they got to the eerie I liked some of the ideas. like the weird aunt and nubile annoying child. well I literally cheered when she took a moon door trip. She was so annoying, so seeing her gone was great. this was all Littlefinger's doing.

After that I like that Littlefinger is now twisting the kid's mind. but then Sansa comes out all in black, Looking hot as hell, not denying that, But why would the character be gothic all of a sudden? I don't care much for this one, but it's not the worst.

Reek
I hate this storyline. We had to sit through a whole season of him being tortured, now we have to sit through a whole season of him acting like a wounded pup. Reek's actor knocked it out of the park. but overall his storyline is just hard to watch. the only good thing he did all season was impersonate himself and talk to a guy at Moat Caelin. that is all he did all season.

I liked the episode where the sister shows up, but it felt just too TV episodic. she comes in, sees him, and leaves, never mentioned again. Reek is an intriguing character, and Ramsay snow now being officially a bolton, is terrifying, but I cant help but expect them just destroyed soon.

Bran's Merry Band of Nutjobs
Ok, I like that title. and yet again here's a storyline that hasn't effected anything. they've been traveling for 3 seasons or so now. They're going after a wonderous three eyed Crow. I was so tired of this storyline up until the finale.

Then the finale happened. First of, damn, awesome Skeleton warriors. and now we have the crow, as a human, and a girl who can throw fire. makes dragons look nerfed. anyway I'm happy they finally reached their destination. I think.

I never really cared for Jojen, or whatever the Love actually guy's name is. so his death wasn't much of a problem.

Oberyn
I really liked oberyn, past tense. He was a really cool character, laid back, lots of potential. He was really cool. Then, boom, mind blown! haha. Yeah I liked oberyn, and I was really looking forward to the Mountain Fight. I thought 'oh, he'll win and save tyrion. Nope, I was dead wrong.

The fight was great, But the moment he said 'no, no you can't die yet' I went "Crap, he's dying!" and boom, Galagher's watermelon. I'm curious what this effects in the world and I hope it is cataclysmic.

The Nightwatch
The big Penultimate episode was completely devoted to The Nightwatch Vs Wildling battle. This episode was great. Beautiful shots, great action, all around a brilliant episode. But the rest of the season wasn't too great. the whole season felt like it was waiting for the final battle. The Wall battle was great, but the rest was just ok. And stannis saving the day was a bit unexpected, but It's nice to see him finally do something.

That's all, not much else to say.

Brienne, Pod, Arya, and The Hound
Brienne is one of my favorite characters, she's a badass, and this season I really like her as a rougue paladin. and pairing her with Podrick is a fun combination.

But let's get to the really good scene. Brienne Finally finding Arya. the scene was brilliantly written and the two of them had good chemistry. but then in comes the hound.

This is the one fight I really didn't want. not because I didnt think it would be good, but because i really like both characters. and the moment they started fighting I was expecting them to make up and both protect Arya, but then Brienne wins. I was rooting for her, but god, she beat the shyte out of him.

I really did like the way the Hound and Arya have evolved. The two of them are a perfect odd couple, and the fact that Arya is getting more and more evil is great. I can't wait to see what she turns into over the next couple seasons. I hope she ends up as the one who ultimately kills the king, or something like that.

Her going to Braavos was a much better ending than the last couple of Dragonlady endings of the previous seasons.

The Lannister Clusterhump
Yeah, I brought that one back. Ok, this is easily the biggest storyline of the show. We have the Purple wedding, Tyrion's trial, Shae and Tywin's deaths, Jaime and Cersei's love. Sansa, Little finger, Tommen, Margaery, and Even Oberyn. It's a lot to handle.

First off, let's start with the catalyst, Joffrey's Death. I knew going into it that he was poisoned. By Littlefinger and Old Lady Tyrell. I was actually rather disappointed by his death. Don't get me wrong, I was cheering when he died, but then I realized that I love Joffrey as a character, He's a bastard but some of my favorite lines were in scenes with him. It was a great scene, and it motivated the whole season.

Next up, Tyrion. Wow, if he doesn't get an Emmy I don't know who will. His speech at his trial was absolute gold. Tyrion (and arya) is hands down my favorite character, and I'm so happy he didn't die. But the finale was a bit odd. I like that Jaime got him out (pretty easily I'll point out) but why did he go back to his dad's chambers? I got that they wanted to have the Shae scene from the book, but it felt a bit unmotivated.

The way Shae's death was shot was a bit odd. It felt like they didn't want to show Shae much, which is a bit odd. first, she's clothed, not a problem but weird in the context of the scene. and second you never see the chain around her neck. But, but, Tyrion's acting was amazing in this scene.

then the big scene, Tyrion shooting his father, on the crapper. Thank god, Tywin has been a huge problem in the course of the show and he's finally dead. Now theres only 3 lannister's left, and there is a great triangle between them. I cannot wait to see where it goes.

and to round out this huge story cluster, Margaery didn't have enough to do. Tommen was a non entity. and Sansa left the group rather early.

Final Notes
I loved this season, It was an absolutely brilliant season, but not without it's bland storylines. I'm eagerly awaiting Season 5.

Final Verdict: 93
Brilliant all around, but too many extraneous characters.

so now to go on with my day, Till it be morrow!
