Well a little mad
Not mad as in angry, mad as in insane.
I'm not actually insane.
Ah, screw it, Review Time! If you haven't seen Either how to train your dragon's go see that first, then come back later! Spoilers below!
Pros:
Animated movies Can be absolutely gorgeous. HTTYD2 is gorgeous. Yes I'm condensing the name, it's so long winded, maybe I should put in as a con. Anyway the Animation is beautiful, From the amazing flying sequences to the really cool creature designs, it was all around a very fun movie to look at.
The new Dragon toys, err, dragons were very cool, and inventive. they reminded me of the birds from Avatar.The rich color palette, that wasn't washed out by 3D conversion, was great.
I Absolutely loved the Mother's tribal outfit, the way she moved and the texture, it felt like a creepy shaman you'd find in the heart of the country of Africa. She reminded me of Seeing General Grievous for the first time. I loved general Grievous, screw the haters.
I also really liked Drago, he was intimidating and his voice fit perfectly.
Cons:
The movie felt very very short. like they had a small intro, then Hiccup found a new island, then they went to it. went home. then went back, met mom, dad came, drago left, battle, dad died, went home, battle, end. It felt like a 90 minute version of what could have been a great 3 hour movie. I would have loved that.
I liked the characters for the most part, but I found myself groaning anytime the 4 'other' kids showed up, they're comic relief where you could have had actual plot development. I almost see them as nothing more than more toys they can sell. I wish they could just leave the dumb characters at home and have an actual story with mature characters, you can still have the fun characters and stuff but these kind are just not needed.
Ten bucks say we get a 'regular toothless' 'double fin toothless' 'toothess, with bandana' and a 'blue glow toothless' AKA godzilla toothless.
Final Notes:
I actually really like that they killed the dad, yeah it's a bit cliche, but they actually went through with it, most would find a way to bring him back. I only with the movie actually dealt with the emotional trauma of your pet/best friend killing your father. It felt glazed over.
Final Verdict: 84
Very fun, but too many unneeded comic relief characters, and short run time.

Movie Review: How To Train Your Dragon 2
