Top 10 Face Off Makeups

Hello!

So I've shotgunned all of Syfy's show Face Off in just over a week. It's a great show. Minus all the unneeded Drama. There's only so many times someone can whine about possibly going home before you want them to leave.

So anyway, the Best part of the show is undoubtedly the makeups. They're astounding. So I figured I'd make a top 10 of my favorite make ups so far.

I've also decided to limit it to the first 5 seasons. I like some in season 6, but I don't like the idea of critiquing part of the season. I'll probably do a Season 6 review when it's over, and add a top 5 Make-ups to it.

And on a final note, I'm gonna be very Laura heavy. what can I say? she's my favorite Artist from the show.

TOP 10 FACE OFF MAKEUPS

10. Ice Cream
Matt's Ice Cream Man from the season 2 Tim Burton challenge kicks off the list. the perfect blend of creepy, twisted, and Ice cream is a brilliant example of how the competitors bring creativity to the competition. I loved the sprinkles being the Eyebrows, I'm not really sure why but it gives it that added creep factor.

9. Sci Fi Group
Rayce's Sci Fi group from the Season 4 finale (the Le Reve show) was brilliant. although it didn't win him the final prize I loved the way the 3 integrated together, especially the middle Female. The way the female was torn between the dark and the light was awesome. I wish I could find a better picture, but all I can find is the picture above with Rayce.

8. Robot
Next up, Rod and Roy's Star Wars robot. From the season 3 premiere. this episode made me realize the competitors could do things other than just makeup. and also made me keep close watch on Roy, the cowboy, who would very quickly become one of my favorite competitors because of his insane fabrication skills.

7. Red Queen
Why can't I find any good pictures today? Next up is Roy's Red Queen from season 3. It's a really creepy multi layer monster. To me it resembles the female titan from Attack on Titan mixed with something from Resident evil. (which happened to be part of the challenge.) I loved this costume, it's creepy and very weird to look at.

6. Mother Earth
The first Laura on the list! this one is the exquisitely painted Mother earth from Season 5 episode 5. This one mostly gets the nod because the pain is gorgeous. The actual challenge was kind of shrugworthy but I loved the way this makeup turned out

5. Bioluminescence
Anthony's Bioluminescent Creature from season 4 was awesome. Slightly resembling Zoidberg in the light, it takes on a whole different persona when the lights went off. I really liked this challenge and wouldn't mind seeing some other Bioluminescence challenges in the future.

4. Cyborg
Derek's Season 3 Cyborg was one of the least human looking faces I've seen on the show. it almost ended up looking like an assassin. I loved the use of various mechanical parts, and the glowing single eyed face was awesome. Looks like a totally badass toy that I'd love to buy.

3. Assassin
ah the Star Wars episode, already pointed out Roy's creation, now onto Laura and Sarah's Assassin Character is absolutely stunning. she looks like something I've already seen in the star wars universe. it's almost like a Jedi knight turned assassin, hiding amongst the people of Tatooine. I loved the sculpt and the pain, which lead me to instantly take note of Laura as a competitor.

2. Cellist
Rayce's Cellist is another great example of beautiful painting and overall really subtle sculpting. He made her for the Burton Challenge (Same as the Ice Cream Man above) but this one took a more whimsical route. the cellist was paired with a funky looking Cello with a face growing out of it. The tragic story of the cellist who has to continually play her cello boyfriend or they'll both die is pretty cool and unique.

1. Cubism
Yeah, this was made in a day. somehow this whole costume, and paint, and makeup was assembled in about 20 hours. that's insane to me. Laura's Season 5 Cubism creation was easily one of the most visual amazing sculpts I've seen on the show. I instantly loved it from the moment the guy walked on stage. It's a beautiful mish mash of weird and random angles. but somehow it still draws the eyes to the face. I have no idea how this much work was pulled off in such a short amount of time, but, Holy carp.

So that's done! been dabbling on it for a while, now to finish up the Oscar predictions before Sunday, and try to get the spam to stop on my Summer Wars review.

If you like this list let me know, if you hate it, let me know too.
