Movie Review 57: 2 Guns

Welcome Back!

Well it's been a relatively laid back day, did My top 10 Dr. who creatures earlier, otherwise just chores and such around the house. more of the same tomorrow. still have to clean out the garage so I can pull my car into it and not freeze on the way out to the driveway.

anywho, just finished up 2 Guns, the Denzel Washington/Mark Wahlberg gunfest. let's review it!

MOVIE REVIEW: 2 Guns

Pros:
Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg are a really fun team. unlike other cop duos out there these two have chemistry and bring a lot of credibility to the roles. they remind me of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon.

the banter between the two of them is very fun, particularly Wahlberg, who motor mouths a lot of the movie, yet doesn't go off on annoying tangents like oh, say, Seth Rogan.

anyway, the movie was pretty fun, never quite devolving into just another run of the mill action movie, but it hits every point you really want from one.

Cons:
Uh, well, it's kind of a jumble of randomness. I kinda got the overall storyline, but it seems like the writers insisted on having ulterior motives for every single character. I mean, why did the navy guy not trust his friend who's now a DEA agent? wouldn't that explain a lot?  I knew from the beginning they ended up being a team, I mean, it's Action cliche number 1.

I guess the movie did hit every cliche possible, explosions, unneeded plot twists, horrible accuracy from trained snipers. Mexican standoffs are abundant yet never played out. it's a movie of potential but never lived up to it.

Overall it was a decent film, but nothing special. I'll forget about it most likely under the awesomeness of other movies

FINAL VERDICT: 55
Fine action and banter, mediocre movie

So that's done, next up most likely a few anime reviews, maybe Dexter, I finished the one piece episodes I have so that'll most likely get some kind of review soon, or a list, we'll see.
