Ohayo!
So, nothing big has happened lately, ordered the Compete series of the Guild on DVD. should be here eventually.
now onto the next review! one of the weirdest I've ever watched to be honest.
Pros:
Well, it's much different than any other Ghibli film i've watched. this one has talking animals that can Transform into anything. I love the concept and Idea. and it was one really weird overall movie.
The movie had some of the oddest animation I've seen come out of ghibli, the giant hallucinations and the various transformation effects were obviously a lot of fun for the animators
I enjoyed seeing our world from the perspective of an outsider.
Cons:
Well, it's about talking animals. I seem to have a stigma against talking animals.
The biggest thing I had against the movie was the fact that their scrotums became various things. did an animator make a joke about turning his balls into a blanket and someone agreed and put it in the movie? it's just such a weird random idea that at times hurt to watch. what kind of pain killers were they huffing?
Similar to Mononoke and Nausicaa the theme was very much Environment vs Technology. It's getting to be a very obvious theme in ghibli movies. yet this time had only a little flying and no female main character.
FINAL VERDICT: 78
Enjoyed it, but ultimately not my favorite of the long list of Ghibli films
Only a few more to go!
the cat returns
Tales from earthsea
Grave of the fireflies
Kiki's Delivery Service
