Movie Review 40: Laputa, Castle in the Sky

Ohayo!

Welcome back to the land of Ghibli! I started Pom Poko the other night, but figured I was too tired to finish it, i'll be restarting that most likely tomorrow. but as of a few minutes ago I finished Laputa, Castle in the Sky. It's been a long day and I'll be heading off o bed after this most likely.

anyway, review!

MOVIE REVIEW: Laputa, Castle in the sky

Pros:
Well, Great animation and above average story is a must for Ghibli, and they dont disappoint. quirky characters and cool flying contraptions are there as well. It's a pretty solid outing from Ghibli, felt very similar to Nausicaa and even Whisper of the heart. I enjoyed the aerial battles again and the robots were fun to watch

I really enjoyed the Dichotomy of the two main characters. I like how they are both younger and they seemingly became really good friends without ever really feeling like a forced relationship. they felt like they were a real pair of kids, who could potentially become a couple later in life.

The robots were cool. I like the Idea of them being able to shapeshift into whatever shape they need. Theyre a versatile design, kinda reminded me of the Golden army

Cons:
It's almost too similar to other Ghibli movies, its a great movie on its own otherwise

Some of the characters felt like caricatures instead of actual characters, i've found that I like the more down to earth movies like Poppy hill and Whisper of the heart over the epics like Nausicaa and Mononoke.  yet I still loved mononoke and nausicaa.

FINAL VERDICT: 82
Great overall Movie, but too similar and safe a movie.

So ill be reviewing a couple tomorrow and I'll finish up my story about the 30 Seconds to mars concert on Friday
