Movie Review 28: Antiviral

Guten Morgen!

Hello everyone!

oh, I said that already.

Kinda

Anyway welcome back!

today's movie comes from the obviously deranged son of horror legend David Cronenberg. This movie was one weird ride.

In a world where Celebrity obsession has become a worldwide pandemic, companies start selling the viruses that celebrities get so that fans can live through the viruses the same way the stars did. or, didn't live through.

So, time for my review of Antiviral

MOVIE REVIEW: Antiviral

Pros:
Well, there are some movies that leave you with a feeling after it. either depression or joy or drunkenness. this movie left me with a great need for antiviral medications and a detox shower. all the way through I felt almost sick to my stomach.

Now I know what you're thinking, "why is this a pro?" well, it's because to leave that kind of feeling on me, who's seen like everything ever made and is immune to almost everything, it's a rather big feat. I've had this kind of reaction a few times from movies like Requiem for a dream and movies like that. but this little indie flick somehow managed to make me cringe all the way through. impressive

The Cinematography was great, I won't say it was beautiful like Grandmaster or Life of Pi. but it was really good. The compositions were interesting and sometimes very stark and almost depressing. The shots kept my attention all the way through.

I'm surprised to see Xmen First Class's Banshee in a movie. I honestly thought he was just some whiny kid they threw in there, but seeing this I can tell he has some acting chops. or else he's just creepy looking anyway.

I can honestly see our culture wanting to eat cloned meat from some of the celebritards out there. I mean, who wouldn't go for a little 'organically grown' beyonce steak?

Cons:
Well it kinda made me sick. I know I said that was a pro, but honestly, I give it props for being able to make me sick, but i don't like that it made me sick. the hell?

It's a very slow film. lots of plodding and slow dialogue and characters slowly moving. i found myself checking my watch a few times throughout the movie.

I hate needles. and there were so many damn needles in the damn movie. ew

I fear that this isn't as far fetched as people think.....that's a big con

Final Verdict: 65
Visually interesting and moving, but the subject matter and slow pace will limit its audience

Another B movie down! Time to get some sleep as I prepare for a shoot tomorrow and some rehearsals on Sunday.
