Hello!
Just got done watching the Whose Line is it Anyway premiere. it was good, wasn't as funny as i hoped. but i feel like they'll get on track soon
I've noticed i haven't done any top 5's in quite a while, so i'll do a couple Whose line inspired lists.
Quick note, i was an Improv actor for a few years when i was in college. I only stopped because my Schedule was very busy with Family weekend and Detention of the dead
First up, top 10 Games!
(sorry for the poor quality videos)
10. Superheroes, Was always a very fun game to play. as long as the actors know how the structure goes the scene flows very well and can make for some truly hilarious characters. or really lame ones.
9. Hoedown, It's the least favorite for the actors, but its so fun to watch their misery. sweet sweet misery
8. Two Line Vocabulary. this one is aggravating with amateur actors. it takes some talent to make a scene out of 4 nonsequiter lines, but when you have the right cast its a very fun game to play.
7. Improbable Mission, another one that needs very talented cast members. amateurs have the problem of thinking too much in the box or just going off in family guy style tangents. it takes skill to hit that mid ground between out of the blue and obvious.
6. Sideways Scene, a new addition to the show. they used it in the Colin and brad touring show, and the short lived 'trust us with your life'. its a great sight gag show and could be a very good addition to the show in the new series
5. Party Quirks, out of the two 'quirk games', Party Quirks and Lets make a Date, Party quirks gets the win because of the physicality of some of the quirks, like the best 'carol channing who keeps getting her head attached to things'
4. Film, TV, Theatre Styles, an underrated game that was my favorite game to play personally. i could throw out every reference i could think of and they'd all go right over everyone's head. i guess i have odd taste in movies
3. Scenes from a Hat, a good 'rapid fire' game, very good for firing out as many raunchy jokes as you can in a very short time.
2. Number of Words, underused and unbelievably difficult to play, back when we tried playing it in improv it always folded as we counted the words on our fingers. Whose line manages to make it hilarious as well as technically impressive for those who know how tough it really is
1. Sound Effects, Ryan and Colin are Geniuses, that's all i have to say
So those are the Best 10, to me, why not do a 5 Games that should be burned and never played again
Bottom 5 Whose Line Games
(only the ones they play more than once)
5. Questions only, this one is more an improviser issue. improv is based around the idea of 'Yes, and...' in questions only it very often turns into just a random off shoot question, its annoying to play with amateurs, and tough to stay interesting, yet Whose line always makes it fun
4. Greatest hits, This is actually a very fun game to watch, Wayne Brady always hits it out of the park, and Colin and Ryan are great as hosts, but the show goes on for a very long time, it's one of those they can no longer play with the shorter amount of time in the episodes. and it usually drags a bit on the third song.
3. Dubbing, they insist on playing this in the new episodes with the weekly guest star, it's just a lame game, you have an actor and you force them to pretend to talk. the dubbed actor always just ends up standing there blankly and boring.
2. Whose line, also known ad My mother said. this game is so lame to play, but that's my own personal opinion, i always felt like it ended up as the same scene every time, extremely predictable and just overall a boring scene to play
1. Helping hands, i usually go and find a snack as this one's being played, it's just an easy excuse to see ryan slam his face in a cake or eat random things, the scene has no structure of rhythm or talent involved. its just lame.
some of the bottom 5 are decent games, but they all have little issues.
also, yes i know judging whose line on the acting of amateurs is lousy, but whatever, im judging it....deal wif it
