And now for the most negative movie title with the most positive message, No!
The 'festival Fatigue' already kinda hit me in the beginning on the movie. Not that the movie was boring, it's just my body getting used to getting up early.
Review!
MOVIE REVIEW: No
Pros:
Was very well acted (I'm sensing a pattern) Gael Garcia bernal is one of the most underrated actors here in America, he's amazing in Latin America in everything he makes including Even the Rain from a past TCFF. He should get more recognition here in the states.
One thing I'm putting in both pros and cons is the camera style. It's shot in an old 1980 style camcorder type look. It was very good at setting the tone of the movie. Felt like a documentary film from way back.
The film felt like it was almost all old clips from the original commercials. It's tough to tell when new and old footage was on screen. So the movie was seamless and almost felt like they were just shooting a documentary. Very well made
Cons:
I mentioned the film quality, well it felt like an old film. It lacked polish and never really got into character motivations. It felt like we were watching some random people and never got to understand their reasons behind what they were doing
Also who would here light a movie shot in 4:3?
Comparisons:
Was very similar to Even the rain. Not in subject or setting or quality, but they both dealt with very heavy subjects in Latin America, the right to vote and the right to water.
Final verdict: 87
Very intriguing but the film quality and style did let us understand motivations
So yep! That's that! Next up is A Hijacking at 6!
