Good morning World!
well, i just finished up watching Upside Down, the Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst mind boggler.
before i start the review i'd like to hand it to the director, that was one of the most inventive movies ive seen in so damn long, thank you.
- Warning - Spoilers ahead -

MOVIE REVIEW: Upside Down
Pros:
the concept, holy shit, the whole dual gravity idea was amazing, now if i think too hard about it little plot holes start to pop up, but i still think its an incredible concept. the Visual effects and camera shots were extremely well choreographed. though some of the times the eyelines were very tough to comprehend.
all in all i absolutely loved the concept, having two worlds with different gravity made for some really cool scenes. personally i woulda loved to see some gravity fights, but that's just me
Cons:
The ending. it was a little too happy. Pregnancy, peace, no government threat, it just kind of gave up at the last minute, it felt like they ran out of budget. which considering how much money this lost i'm not surprised.
and the more i think about it the more little errors start to pop out at me. like Kirsten Dunst hair not always following her gravity, or him falling from one side to the other, that's a very very long fall, his bones would break on impact. the more i think the more issues i realize.
Direction:
For a first time director this is an amazing freshman film. i hand it to the guy, the visuals alone are astounding. and the story (up till the end) was a pretty well conceived piece of fiction. i'll be following him from now on, i see much potential in the rest of his career. hopefully the utter commercial failure that the movie ended up being (60 million budget, made 8 million total, 100,000 in america). i really hope he is seen as the visionary he is.
Acting:
it was good, at times seemed a bit forced, but nothing horrible. worm-tail did a pretty good job though.
Cinematography:
This was odd, i thought it was amazing, but it felt so bleached and blue for a lot of it. it felt like a very high concept art film. i don't know if that was a good or bad thing. i just needed to point it out
Final Verdict: 79
was visually and conceptually amazing but it fell apart near the end and had way too many little issues to be called perfect
So that's that, I highly recommend it, just don't question it...
Mind fuck
