Ok, this is just a random update, no real point or anything. i just feel like typing randomly.
well im working on a new script. i think i mentioned it earlier, a script about a man being sucked into a mirror world.
i figured i'd do a quick brainstorm here about the script. go over various topics inside the script and such!
Ok, the basic concept is centered around a guy, i named him Kyle for now, he's in his car readying himself for a date. he's gothic, has a few asymetric piercings here and there, most notably an eyebrow piercing on his right eyebrow. as a nervous habit he likes to tug on it.
he starts in his car, prepping his hair and such in the vanity mirror. he leaves the car and heads into a bar (otto bar)
when he's in the bar he gets a beer and waits for his date. as he's waiting he looks around and catches the eye of a cute girl across the bar. he smiles at her, but her boyfriend turns around and glares at him.
Kyle retreats to the bathroom to pump himself up, the girl's boyfriend appears behind him, confronting him about scoping out his girl, total douchebag move. the boyfriend ends up punching kyle and slams him into a large floor to ceiling mirror. instead of cracking the mirror Kyle slides through it, he lands in a reversed copy of the bathroom.
i'm having an issue with how to get rid of the Boyfriend, logistically there would be a reversed version of the boyfriend inside the room but I think I'd just make kyle wake up in an empty bathroom, maybe the boyfriend is stuck in the opposite world? i dunno, I'll come up with something.
anyway kyle ends up staggering back to the bar, not realizing the reversed world. he puts the beer up to his head to try and make the swelling on the side of his face (from the punch to the face) he realizes the reversed label is read normally in the mirror behind the bar. he looks around the bar, realizing everything is reversed. he walks out of the bar and heads back towards his car.
he ends up in the wrong parking lot having gone the wrong way out of the bar.
eventually he makes it back to his car and gets in the wrong side of it, lots of little gags about the reversed world and stuff like that. he ends up realizing all the reversed signs and the cars on the wrong side of the road, and he stumbles back to the bar, thinking he's drunk. he sits back down at the bar. the bartender understands what's going on and tells him to go back through the mirror in the background.
I'd want a second fight scene int he bathroom, basically just because i like fight scenes, but i can't think of any logical reason to have another one. possibly he gets back into the bathroom and the boyfriend is still there and Kyle manages to throw him through the mirror and comes out of the bathroom, the cute girlfriend is outside the door.
Kyle passes by her and meets up with a cute girl at the bar, her shirt is reversed and they head out of the bar together.
one final gag of them leaving out one way and then cutting back the other way.
so yeah, that's kind of what i'm working on, it's pretty simple to make in my head, even with all the reversed shots, basically its just reversing the film and flipping Kyle's wardrobe for the shots inside the mirror world. i plan to get a couple versions of his shirt made, one reversed, one normal. and while he's in the reversed world he wears the reversed shirt and in editing i'll reverse all of the footage so his shirt is back to normal.
i plan to do some test shots this week, fleshing out the look i want and finding cool little ways to show the reverse world, like writing something on a napkin, and reversing that in editing so it looks like him scribbling backwards.
I like the concept but i dont 100% know where to go with it.
so anyway i have some packing to do real quick, long drive tonight and a very early morning tomorrow. so until then, stay frosty.
