TCFF 2015 Movie Review 18: Digging For Fire

Digging For Fire

There is a certain genre of American comedy I just don't enjoy. Mumble core. It's like the 'let's let them riff' style of Judd Apatow without the comedic timing or improv skills.

Digging For Fire is a mumblecore movie of the most bland kind. It all (randomly) starts when a guy finds a gun and bone In he back yard of a random house they are house sitting, for some reason. You'd think the movie would then be about what they find in the ground, but no. The wife randomly goes to her parents to do, whatever, and the husband has a party.

He befriends a cute girl. She befriends Orlando bloom. They mumble for a bit. Then head back home.

Guy digs for a while, then buries it.

Girl kisses bloom the. Goes home

Girl takes uber cars, just because

The movie very obviously had no script. The actors tried to improv the dialogue but ultimately just ended up reiterating dialogue that was already said.  It was like watching a few funny actors trying to remember the basics of their improv classes.

Ultimately the movie went nowhere. And that is unbelievably frustrating.

Final Verdict: 42
