TCFF 2015 Movie Review 15: Love At First Fight

Love At First Fight

French rom coms are generally pretty good. They're nothing original or unique, but somehow they work perfectly. Love At First Fight is a bit different. I liked it but it wasn't as well made as other french comedies.

The leads were good and had decent chemistry. They didn't quite feel like they were real characters at times. I don't really mind though. The filmmakers tried hard to make her the tough one but it ultimately falls apart near the end. She was all touh through the beginning of the movie but during the camp she just got weaker and weaker.

At least they didn't make her pregnant. That's a stable of bad storytelling.

The climax really felt out of nowhere. The ash cloud was alluded to once but to have it randomly show up was a random twist the writer threw in randomly.

I won't go into spoilers but the ending of the movie unraveled completely. It's a bit of a shame, I really enjoyed the first two thirds of the movie.

Final Verdict: 74
