TCFF 2015 Movie Review 1: The Clouds of Sils Maria

The Clouds of Sils Maria

This movie is one of the few english (mostly) movies I have on the docket this year. Starting Juliette Binoche and Kristen Stewart.

Juliette Binoche was great as an aging actress trying to come to terms with it. She was great as she jumped in and out of script dialogue and normal dialogue. It was interesting how often the script scene paralleled the storyline between Binoche and Stewart.

Stewart played basically the same character she's been typecast as since Twilight. A quiet and lip biting slightly antisocial girl. It was tough to pull her away from previous roles.

Chloe grace Moretz was a blip on the radar. She didn't do much for the movie but wasn't out of place.

The movie was a bit slow and ended very ambiguous. I enjoyed it but it unfortunately left a bit to be desired.

It was well shot and decently acted but the overreliance on fade outs got annoying as it went on.

Final verdict: 72

Next up: the 100 year old man who climbed out a window and disappeared.
