Hey Everyone!
So I've been severely dragging my feet about this blog lately. I need some good new Ideas. As much as I love doing movie reviews, I need to find a few more ways to keep active on here.
The way I see it, I need to do a few other posts. just random fun little lists and stuff. Maybe a few Cosplay updates. Yeah, Cosplay updates would be fun. I should really remember to take more 'in progress' photos. For some reason i never remember to take progress pictures. Oh well, I just finished one of my favorite cosplays in a while so I'll definitely have a post about it coming up soon.
So this past weekend I went to Youmacon! (Loud Fanfare!) As always it was a hell of a lot of fun. I roomed with my friend Amanda and her cool brother Nick. Later Joined By the awesome Meg and Hannah! The rooming was pretty good this year. We stayed at the Courtyard this year, right across from the Ren Cen. I liked it. This was my first big con rooming at the actual con. it was nice to not have a big long trek to get back to my room. Especially as my Costume got hot and I needed to be liberated from it.
This year felt a bit different to me. I went into it with really blind and with no real plan at all. I had plenty of people who wanted to spend time with me but I purposely left my schedule open. I've gone to cons in the past with a strict schedule and always end up hurrying to the meetings or the panels or to be with a person at a certain time. This time I wanted to just be calm and relaxed. it was nice for the most part.
This year the biggest issue was money. This is the first con I've gone to since I got an actual job. So I was really happy to Get a check at the last minute, the Monday before con. Means I would have a whole bunch of money to buy awesome random goodies!
But that was not meant for me. One of my checks bounced, somehow sending my 125$ in the hole. I learned this in the middle of the day on Friday. How awesome is that?? Yeah not that awesome Luckily my new friend Kali bailed me out at the moment. (I was buying food stuffs) anyway thanks Kali for saving my ass there, I still owe you some foodstuffs! I'll get more into the new friends in a second. This is the first time I really had money woes. It's an odd feeling.
So anyway I met a whole bunch of Damn cool people this year. Meg, Hannah, Amanda, James, and Emily were already friends. I met Nick when I arrived at the room. Seems really cool, like just about everyone I meet at cons nowadays. Thursday night we ended up wandering around and we ran into a couple other RWBY cosplayers. Carys and Kali, First off, these two are awesome and both are gorgeous. Yep! we ended up hanging out for a bit and took a bunch of selfies. (None of which I've seen, curses!) Some semi-creepy photographer started taking pictures of us. Mostly Kali and Carys, but it was a pretty fun time.
I ended up running into them again in the dealers room on Friday, followed along with them for quite a while then the whole Money shyte went down. bummer but whatever. Later on I dragged them into a pretty fun game of Cards against humanity in the winter garden. Kali took off on Saturday and I ran into Carys once more on Sunday. I look forward to hanging out with them again sometime!
On Friday I had a photo shoot where I met up with my friend Jill (from RPG Comedy) ended up hanging out with her and her group for a bit. Jill and her Boyfriend Stephen couldn't be there Saturday but I hung out with the rest of the group for a bunch of the day. Including an awesome girl named Sam. we ended up hanging out quite a bit and have been chatting a lot, Yay friends!!!
I made a few more friends. Bryan, a fellow torchwick cosplayer. Ashley, a cool (but crazy, her words) Blake cosplayer. Nick and the rest of Jill's group. All the tons and tons of awesome people that took pictures of me. It was a great time for just meeting cool people.
My cool Chinese friend Trista even came up from her school in Ohio (I know, you come to America for school and end up in Ohio???) She's pretty cool. I'd like to hang out with her more sometime.
So this year I went as Roman Torchwick From RWBY. I was lucky enough to find the white coat last minute and finished it up on Thursday. It turned out awesome!
I'm really happy with how it turned out. there are a few issues here and there, The gloves and parts of the cane need revamping but I really like the way the coat and the collar turned out. It's not completely exact but I really like the stylized version of it. This was a really fun Cosplay to play, the arrogance and swagger that he has was perfect. I got a huge response this year. tons of pictures and lots and lots of hugs.
I went to a couple Photoshoots this year, and unofficial one on Friday and a real one on Saturday. the Friday one was fun. ended up hanging out with some of them after the shoot. was offered a chance to go back to someones car and get totally high with them. I mean, she was cute, but nahhhh I'm good.
Saturday was fun but not quite as fun as Friday. I was waiting for Carys and Kali but they got entangled, argh! I took some pretty cool photos with A cool Blake Cosplayer named Ashley. we got a bunch of cool shots thanks to Kyamirin Cosplay. I'll post some in a bit after theyre edited up pretty.
So after all that Amanda Nick Meg and I went to MGM to get some buffet. Got hit on by old ladies, and men, and young women. it was nice. guess that's what I get for dressing as Prince charming. I love that costume.
Okay, so this is already rediculously long post. I should probably wrap it up. In conclusion, I really liked this year. It breezed right by but I met some awesome people, Nick, Kali, Carys, Bryan, and expecially the awesome Sam. I'll be posting new Cosplay stuff and little creation stuff soon. I have the bug and I want to follow it.
So anyway I'm working on a few costumes for Ohayocon. I'll post more about that soon but in the mean time Enjoy your lives!
