Movie Review 103: The Grand Budapest Hotel

Hello!

Sorry for the little luft in posts. Is that the right word? Luft? I feel like that might be a fake word.

Oh well.

Anyway I just finished up Wes Anderson's remarkable Grand Budapest Hotel. There may be a few spoilers, so beware and stuffs.

Movie Review: The Grand Budapest Hotel

Pros:
I love Wes Anderson as a director. He has a supremely unique style. his movies almost feel like pop-up books. The way his movies play are whimsical and lighthearted but have some very dark themes throughout. Each and every one is so fun to watch. I eagerly anticipate his new movies every time. Yet somehow I keep missing them in theatres. That's a shame. Bad moviegoer!

The cast was great, so many famous faces all through this movie. It was fun to see how many popped up in various scenes and it felt like a who's who of Oscar nominees. The sheer amount that Wes anderson can Rally into one movie, and what seems like a small budget movie, is astounding.

The Story played out in a pretty fun and interesting way, it flowed really well. without too much downtime, but it was a very fun ride.

The cinematography is truly unique. The way most of the movie was in 4x3 then it jumps into other formats at times then jumps back, it may be annoying to some but I thought it was really fun. the camera dictated many of the jokes and a lot of the scenes were well choreographed tot eh point of being fantastic.

Cons:
The overall acting felt rather mechanical at times. it's not a huge issue but they felt like cardboard cutouts talking on a flat surface. it fit the style but it was still a little distracting.

Final Notes:
I love this movie, the style and pacing is great and is full of Popular actors in small roles. It's all around a very fun movie.

FINAL VERDICT: 94
Lots of fun all around, some iffy acting.

So now to find something fun to do!
