Hey again!
So soon! I needed to get the Taste of the newest Spiderman out of my mouth so I figured my favorite actor wouldn't be a bad pick. I've been wanting to see Fantastic fear of everything for quite some time so when I saw it on Netflix I had to indulge.
Pros:
I love Simon Pegg, His weird Brand of humor is right up my alley. this one reminded me of an episode of Spaced. (Vastly underrated show BTW) I love how Pegg can bring in his unique blend of wit into these types of movies. This one was pretty much all him locked in either a room or in a laundro-mat. Don't ask me how that works, but still, I liked it.
I enjoy quirky little movies like this, they don't take themselves very seriously and that generally helps the film along. this one was a weird bag of crazy. I've been using the term Bag of crazy lately, I rather like it, it's fun. anyway this one was just weird and quirky.
I enjoy anytime a movie uses stop motion animation, the Herald/Brian the Hedgehog scenes were fun and whimsical but felt like a Burton short, which I like.
I liked the concept of the hand being super glues to the knife, not really sure why but it was a funny little gag that never felt played out and ended up coming in later in a logical way.
Cons:
The movie felt a bit pointless, It meandered and jumped around randomly without any real point for most of it. once Jack finally gets out of the house after probably 45 minutes of Agoraphobia it picks up a bit, but even then it's still just a weird random jumble of stuff going on.
The whole Being left at a laundrette thing was odd and wasn't quite resolved, even with all the various references to it, and the reveal that the killer isn't a killer felt a little unneeded.
Final Notes:
I enjoyed the movie and always love Simon Pegg. It's a small little film and doesn't take itself seriously, but in the end it just jumps all over the place and never settles on one idea or another.
