Good afternoon everyone!
I was supposed to post this last night but I ended up getting distracted. Sorry about that. anyway, now it's time to sit down and write a review of American Hustle!
Pros:
First off this is one of the best movies for acting all around. Christain Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner, they all do an amazing job with their roles.
Christain Bale. This guy is a chameleon when he wants to be. from losing like 100 pounds to be in the Machinist between batman begins and Dark Knight. or gaining 50 pounds and losing his hair to be in this. It's astounding. I have lots of respect for him as an actor, as long as he doesn't yell at me *stops tweaking light*
Amy Adams. She can wear deep cleavaged shirts very well. She's also very good at the tricky type of character. She's become one of the best actresses out there, but is actually rather underrated *breaks into song and dance*
Bradley Cooper: How is the guy from hangover all of a sudden a damn good actor? ....I forgot
Jennifer Lawrence. Well, it's completely different from anything else I've seen her in. Not that I at all thought she was going to be type cast at all, but she just may be the top actress in Hollywood right now. Count me as a fan. she's practically a shapeshifter....
Jeremy Renner. Usually I hate Jeremy Renner, he has no personality, and he's in one of my least favorite movies ever made. But he was pretty good as Polito. he actually had some vulnerability this time. at least I didn't feel like he was gonna explode at any minute.
Otherwise the Era was captured very well. I enjoyed the setting and liked the styles and that kind of stuff. my dad wouldn't stop raving about the music, over and over. anyway I guess the music was good too.
I also really enjoyed the overall story. the con was interesting.
Cons:
It dragged a bit in the middle. it had a good beginning and ending, but the middle kind of dragged. The whole scene with Carmide Polito and Irving singing was overlong. Maybe I'm just nitpicking because I can't find much else to detract from the movie.
some of the dialogue didn't work, but that's the risk you run when it's mostly improvised. but unlike Apatow movies where they just sit and riff this dialogue all helped further a plot.
Oscars:?
I think Bale, Adams, Cooper and Lawrence will get nominations. Lawrence may win, Don't know who else is up. Bale will have stiff competition from Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leonardo Dicaprio. Amy Adams will get buried by Blue Jasmine. and I don't think Cooper was strong enough to stand ahead.
overall I'd say this wins a couple of non vital Oscars and maybe one acting one, most likely Jennifer Lawrence
FINAL VERDICT: 88
Really enjoyed it. easily an Oscar contender.
So there it is, now to contact an assistant, make mac n cheese, and watch anime! I'll have another post later today, probably a Top 10, or a Cosplay type thing. Keep your eyes peeled.
Also, Follow me! cause I like the attention!
