Welcome Back!
I know a lot of you are eagerly anticipating the final 3 days of the 2013 Movie List. Well, sorry if I've been slacking off, busyness and shindiggery have been distracting me! Curses!
Anyway, it's the Eve of my Birthday and I'm over in Traverse city. Miss the group of young people in Alpena, but I guess I have to be here.
So, anyway I just walked out of the State Theatre. Saw Saving Mr. Banks, about Walt Disney trying to get the rights for Mary Poppins. Anyway Figured I haven't reviewed anything since Hobbit 2, So, Review Time!
I'll hopefully get The 8th day of the movie list up tonight if I don't get distracted.
Pros:
First off Emma Thompson was great as Mrs. Travers. She was a bit hard to warm up to but that made her intriguing. I'd say she's a good shot at the Best actress, and will get a nomination. but I don't think she can beat the juggernaut that is Blue Jasmine.
Tom Hanks was interesting as Disney. It was well played and a rather likable character, But I only saw it as Tom Hanks as Disney. he never quite melded into the character enough.
Paul Giamatti was great as Mrs. Travers driver, I liked their banter and how he ultimately warmed her up, making her seem almost human.
The stand out performance besides Thompson was Colin Farrell. He was great as the carefree father who slowly becomes a drunk. I don't know if he was actually drunk through most of it but he did a great job. I expect him to get a supporting actor nomination. as well as Young 'Ginty' to give them a 4 way acting nomination.
The overall story was interesting and found a way to hook me. I hate Disney but I found the story interesting.
Cons:
Well, It was a relatively predictable story, we all know the movie gets made and we all know it's a huge hit. I would have liked to see a bit more about the actual movie being made but I guess Disney will leave that for the sequel, we all know they love their sequels.
There isn't much else to say for the negatives. it's really good, overall story was good and unfolded well, but I wasn't all that interested in it. But the acting alone made it great.
FINAL VERDICT: 83
Great acting and setting, but I don't care much for the subject.
And theres yet another review! Now to finish up those pesky Lists!
Oh and yes, Mr Banks will end up on the list, somewhere, I'll tweak that after I finish them up.
AND....It's my Bday tomorrow, the 28th, wish me a happy Birthday!..im 25, woot

Nice review. Though it may not all be true, it still is a tribute to Travers, as well artists from all over the world who stick to their word, their vision and what they have created.
