Movie Review 34: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Ohayo!

I'm back again! after the awesome Breaking Bad Finale I felt like watching something uplifting and light.

well, I randomly chose Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. henceforth known as just Nausicaa, cuz i'm a lazy Bastard, and its 2:30 in the morning!

so onward, to the review!

MOVIE REVIEW: Nausicaa

Pros:
this movie is much bigger in scale than Totoro, poppy hill or Arrietty. it has some truly awesome flying scenes and surprised me with how dark it was. mind you ive yet to watch mononke so I think Ghibli is a pretty kid friendly studio so far, but this was much darker than anything i've seen from them. I liked it, It was epic in scale and was very well made.

I enjoyed the action and fantastical elements of the movie. It kept my attention through it all and I never felt like i knew what was going to happen.

Cons:
Well, it's a giant environmental ad. The whole concept is that deforestation is bad and the insects will come and kill you if you harm the plants and animals. It worked but it just felt a little too obvious. That being said, it was released in 1984, wow, did they have all of the deforestation issues back then or was it ahead of its time?

I now want a Teto, all I have is a sleepy kitty, kinda looked like a pikachu mixed with a Jolteon

Animation:
This animation seemed much better than Totoro. I'm not really sure why. might have been because I watched Totoro on my laptop whereas I watched this on the TV. I'm not sure, but the stunning aerial combat scenes were great. It was a truly beautiful movie.

OH, also, whoever decided to put her in skin colored tights....you had me going for a while. kinda looked like she was pantsless....just saying....

FINAL VERDICT: 84
Beautiful movie, great pacing, but the environmental message was just too Obvious

So, onto another movie, or the next episode of wire (or sleep!) (No, stop trying to get me to sleep brain) sorry about that, my brain is debating itself.

I should write a schizophrenic review sometime, like have my two sides dueling it out. hmm, I  like that.
