Hello again!
I have some time to actually do this review some justice, the sleepiness that his me in Superstar has worn off. So I'll dive right into this next review
No there won't be boating puns.. That was just an unfortunate saying.
MOVIE REVIEW: Kon-Tiki
Pros:
From the very first shot, a long slow focus follow of a boy walking in the snow, all the way up to extreme close up, to the very last shot, the cinematography amazed me. This had some of the most impressive shots I've seen in quite a while (not quite Last days' Supermarket shot) the couple of long focus follows were very impressive, as well as the shots around the raft as they were watching.
The special effects were actually pretty cool, the recreation of 1940's New York was impressive, especially for a Norwegian film.
Cons:
Sharks are cool, but there were too many of them, if you've seen one shark you've seen them all.
Also as the men started growing beards they became very tough to tell apart. But they still had distinct moments to seller ate them apart.
Comparisons:
The middle half felt a lot like Life of Pi. Especially when they went up into the sky and came back down, as well as bioluminescent fish, which looked awesome, but similar. I wanted him to yell "where are you going Richard Parker?" Near the end.
How did Pi never grow any facial hair?
Acting:
All of the actors did a very good job, they seemed like a decent crew of misfits, the refrigerator salesman and the captain were the highlights by far.
The captain kinda looked like Sanji for the One Piece fans.
Final Verdict: 88
Beautiful cinematography, cool visuals and good acting. And sharks, lots of sharks
