Hello!
How to do this review without swearing...Hmmm
I should explain...I got a tip a few weeks ago about how Swearing is sometimes not appreciated in Blogs. I agree for the most part, so i'm gonna self censor the harsher words
you have to admit "PACK IT IN FRANK YOU SILLY BAR-STOOL!" is a lot better than "PACK IT IN FRANK YOU SILLY BASTARD"
so I'll be using random words that somewhat sound like swearing in order to get across my points, and the randomness that is horrible censorship!
Now onto the review of Kick-Ass 2! It's Loaded with Tons and Tons of SPOILERS
MOVIE REVIEW: KICK-ASS 2
Pros:
I enjoy the Kick-Ass series, it's irreverent and crude sure but its fun to watch. Aaron Taylor-Johnson (He really took his wife's last name in his? weird) is fun as always as Kick-ass. and Chloe Grace Moretz (i don't care if you want to drop your middle name, the Grace sounds cool) is great as Hit Girl, when she's Hit Girl.
otherwise I enjoyed the rest of the Justice League, err, Justice Forever. Particularly Doctor Gravity, I love Donald Faison and seeing him as a wannabe Superhero is fun. the Remembering Tommy couple was cool, didn't do much, but they were fun.
The Movie got much better after the Father died, I love when reality strikes, very similar to the first one. It ties together for the final act and had a pretty good resolution.
The violence was fun and over-the-top as always. and the humor was as foul mouthed as ever.
Cons:
The Toxic Mega-Koontz were annoying, they were like 6 stereotypes pretending to be scary. the Mother Frumper was just a whiny little kid with money, I liked that he was just a rich brat with money and no fighting prowess. but how was he able to go toe to toe with Kick Ass at the end? Kick ass shoulda just beat him to a pulp in an instant. How did Mclovin hold his own for so long?
Mother Russia was fine, but Hit Girl shoulda destroyed her so much faster, speed and blades will always beat slow fists any time. Even with Hit Girl randomly spouting swear words, trying too hard to out do the last one.
Speaking of Hit Girl, Why oh why did they have to have the stupid Mean girls story-line. I hated this story-line, why does she care about the stupid high school girls? they insist on pretending that Mindy was some kind of girl. she's been raised as a murderer for her whole life. Watching one shunty one direction music video does not make you a whiny Clique obsessed Plastic wannabe. the best part of the story-line was when they left her in the woods, I was honestly expecting her to come back to school and tear them to pieces with telekinesis, but i guess that's not gonna happen til October
Carrie, in theatres October 18th
Her revenge was also just over the top for no reason. seriously? did it have to go to Poo and puke humor? are you a damn Apatow movie? Seriously, It felt like a completely different movie, it randomly breaks from the violence based movie to a crappy american comedy. Damn i wish Britain made more comedies
The World's End in theatres on Friday
Anyway, the first half of the movie felt like a bunch of unconnected vigilante scenes. I liked the random characters but they broke up the whole Asian poker game and saved the hookers and all that, but did that have anything to do with the story? it just felt like they should have had that somehow connected to the Mother-Fronter's group. seriously, maybe if it was somehow connected to uncle Ralph somehow
Now let's talk about Uncle Ralph, to me he'd be a damn awesome bad-guy in number 3. Yet they insist on keeping Red Mist alive. Just kill him Dammit! he's not as funny as you people think! Kick ass is becoming a real hero in number 3, he needs a real villain, not some poser in a parka, er i mean, his mother's bondage gear.
Comparisons:
It follows a very similar rhythm as the first one, it starts with Kick ass and his friends doing random help, then about half way through a significant father figure dies and the snooki hits the fan. and it gets real. The first had a much better balance of Humor and violence. the sequel felt it had to go even bigger and more gross out. bigger and grosser is not always better.
the final battle in the Toxic Mega-Count's lair was fun, but how can none of the heroes die? really? were all the villains just pansies? how did the Remember Tommy couple live? or the gay insect man? at least Night Birch was attractive and could seemingly fight. Her best scene was in the Hospital after the Mother Fonter tried to rape her.
This one felt very shallow compared to the first, yet I enjoyed it. It had some fun scenes but it was ultimately just too obsessed with upping itself from the last one.
Final Verdict: 60
Fun movie, but was just too over the top. It broke its own humor by having the Mean girls simultaneously spew puke and diarrhea at the same time.
So that's 2 movies after the film fest, and even though I started this review rather favorably I can feel it getting worse as I went. Hopefully World's End will turn it around on Thursday.
