MOVIE REVIEW TIME!!!!!
Stop the blog presseseses, it's time for my first new Movie review Post!!!
basically, i'm going to do the pro's and the cons, and the comparisons (olympus has fallen will be mentioned, alot...) and hash out a 0-100 numerical Value.
why 100 you ask? well its so i can differentiate between the perfect movies, and the flaws a bit more clearer.
so without any delay, my first movie review!
WHITE HOUSE DOWN
- SPOILER WARNING -
Pro's:
the movie was relatively well paced and had some good moments of humor, the acting was decent, especially Joey King, (okay, im biased). the effects were fine, to be expected from roland emmerich, and the action was good.
Con's:
The Overall story made no sense, the trailers spoiled the story, the characters acted out of character too often, some of the effects looked out of place, and it did drag near the end. the unneeded plot twists were cliche'd and the physics were broken. also...the use of foreshadowing was too obvious..
Comparisons:
Olympus has fallen.......yes, it's the same movie...president (jamie foxx, aaron eckhart) is the target, a wannabe secret serviceman, (gerard butler, Channing Tatum), the Son/daughter who gets caught in the center (joey king, the other kid actor), the corrupt second or third in line for presidency. a hacker who gets the nuclear launch codes....hired muscle up the wazoo...and buildings exploding....oh and the president getting shot, but living, the hero saving the kid, bad guys dying, nuclear holocaust averted, happy ending.
i am not kidding, these are the exact same movies. Before i get flamed, yes i know they were made at the same time, but fuck, one should have been trashed or shot onto dvd....
Cast:
I'll admit i enjoyed the humor between Tatum and foxx more than eckhart and butler, even tho i think olympus had the better actors. the rest of the cast did fine, nothing really stood out, run of the mill action. explosions, moronic decisions, shrug.
Story:
it started ell, focusing on the dad daughter stuff, but then the terrorists actual plot was so full of turns it ended up making no sense....the one guy wanted money, the other wanted revenge for his son who was killed in a war, yet he was actually not wanting revenge, one wanted nuke codes, and the speaker of the house wanted to continue a war to continue being rich.....Right, ok, and one guy named john mclane fucked that all up for you.
did i say john mclane? oops.....that was totally an accident
Overall:
overall, it was fun, mindless and predictable as hell.
a very specific watch was mentioned 3 times in the beginning, one time the president says 'ill keep it in front of my heart at all times', well, wonder where he's getting shot later
or, "where are the tunnels that JFK smuggled marilyn monroe into the white house?" "those dont exist"
bullshit, in 10 minutes we'll be crawling through them,
my list of lazy writing could go on forever, and if i continue to reference Olympus has fallen, i might start punching things.time for a final score
FINAL VERDICT: 42 the true meaning of everything
the movie was fun, but it was just too stupid and generic for it to be remotely Memorable.
and the fact that i feel like ive already seen it once just made it boring
So there you have it, my first movie review, I'll be reviewing the Heat or Monsters University next seeing as how theyre the only movies out i havent seen.
for my top 5 this time, i'll instead do a 'last 5' list.
Last 5 movies, i saw in theatres.
1. White house down: 42
2. World War Z: Very well acted and paced, i'd give it up near 80 or so
3. Man of Steel: went in with Low expectations, walked out impressed, mid 70's
4. This is the End: I hate rogen comedies, dick, cum, shit, and pot jokes all the way through, 25 total
5. Now you See Me: i loved the idea, but the execution was lacking, mid 60's
Till it be morrow

Good review. Totally idiotic, but at least it's fun and knows what it is: a dumb, loud movie.
